The NAFTZ CPSC E-Filing requirements Webinar is in response to event attendee Surveys requesting to cover this topic in more detail.
This session will cover the latest developments and opportunities. This includes:
- Review the January 8th CPSC published final rule requiring the submission of CPSC Certificates of Conformity to be filed at the time of entry.
- Explore the two ways to file this through the message set: (1) is a full message set and (1) is an abbreviated message set referencing their data base reference number. There is an 18 month implementation for entries and a 2-year implementation for FTZs
Featured Speaker(s): Christopher Smith, IKEA, and Katie Tangman, Columbia Sportwear, Co., will highlight key resources and best practices. A Q&A session will follow the presentation.
Katie Tangman is the Senior Director of Global Customs and Trade at Columbia Sportswear Company, where she leads a global team of trade professionals across the U.S., Canada, France, and Vietnam. Her team is responsible for ensuring trade compliance and driving a wide range of duty optimization initiatives, including tariff engineering, FTA utilization, Foreign Trade Zones, Bonded Warehouses, and First Sale for Export programs.
With 16 years at Columbia Sportswear, Katie brings deep industry knowledge and strategic leadership to the company’s global trade operations. Prior to joining Columbia, she served as Managing Partner and Director of Strategic Resource Development at Geo. S. Bush & Company, a regional customs brokerage and freight forwarding firm, where she specialized in developing innovative trade solutions and client strategies.
Christopher Smith is a trade advisor in the Customs Coordination Center, North America for IKEA Purchasing Services (US) Inc. He received a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice from the State University of New York College at Brockport in 1996 and obtained his Customs Brokers License in 1998. From 1992 to 2006 Mr. Smith worked for Eastman Kodak Company in warehouse and logistics primarily as an Import Compliance Specialist. In his current position with IKEA his responsibilities include establishing and maintaining corporate compliance with all US Customs and other Government agency regulations, assist in communicating compliance requirements globally in the IKEA organization, develop and manage Customs related projects for North America.

Collect up to 1 CCS/CES/LCB credits and 1 credit towards your Certified Zone Specialist (CZS) or Accredited Zone Specialist (AZS) certification renewal when you attend the LIVE 1-hour webinar event. NOTE regarding CCS/CES/LCB credits - per NEI Policy, attendees should NOT detrimentally rely on the content of the activity for compliance, auditing, or other enforcement purposes based on the NEI's accreditation approval.
The National Association of Foreign-Trade Zones (NAFTZ) is registered with the National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of America, Inc. (NCBFAA) as a sponsor for continuing education. NCBFAA has final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CCS/LCB credit. Any credit requests must be received immediately following the LIVE event with any requests received after this timeframe subject to NCBFAA review process. Please note that there are no prerequisites or advance preparations required to attend this seminar.

DISCOUNTS: Join NAFTZ in order to qualify for membership discounts.
All individuals must have an NAFTZ membership to receive the NAFTZ member rate, if a substitute is requested, the substitute must have a current NAFTZ membership in order to make such a transfer. If the requested transfer is for a non-member, one would have the option to add an additional membership in order to receive the member rate or pay difference between the paid member and invoiced non-member rate.
