2024 Homer Maxey Award Winner – Christopher Smith, IKEA

Congratulations to Christopher Smith, IKEA for winning this year’s prestigious Homer Maxey Award. Chris was honored with the award during the NAFTZ 2024 Legislative Summit for his outstanding contributions and significant support to NAFTZ advocacy. 

Christopher Smith is a trade advisor in the Customs Coordination Center, North America for IKEA Purchasing Services (US) Inc. He currently serves as a Director on the NAFTZ Board of Directors. He also serves as Chair for the CPSC Working Group, and participates as a member of the new Zone Operations Advocacy Working Group at NAFTZ. His envisions NAFTZ to be associated and looked to by the FTZ industry and U.S. Government as a first line organization to reach out to and get buy in from.

Christopher Smith has a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice from the State University of New York College at Brockport in 1996 and obtained his Customs Brokers License in 1998. He has also obtained the Accredited Zone Special (AZS) designation.
