NAFTZ – Fighting for Storage of Goods Suspected of Forced Labor in FTZs. Is this an Issue in Your Zone?
As highlighted in the recent Town Hall, the NAFTZ has held ongoing conversations with CBP about allowing the storage of goods suspected of being made with forced labor in a Foreign-Trade Zone ever since August 3 when CBP suddenly reversed its policy allowing such storage by issuing CSMS # 57200992.
The NAFTZ has countered the points raised by CBP in writing and in forums such as our Annual Conference in Miami in September. And we continue to talk to CBP about why there was no dialog prior to the reversal of the successful policy allowing such storage.
If you have been impacted by this policy change, we need to hear from you. Please contact our Director of Advocacy and Strategic Relations, Melissa Irmen, at mirmen@naftz.org to share your story and get involved with our efforts to restore this FTZ capability already provided in regulation.

Virtual fly-ins are being scheduled for the week of December 4th – 8th, 2023, and your participation is needed! These web conference meetings are a great way to explain the FTZ program to legislators and make them understand that we need their help to preserve the benefits and explore opportunities to make US FTZs even more competitive.
