William Methenitis
About
William Methenitis, Charter Brokerage’s international trade counsel, has more than 35 years of experience with international trade and tax matters, in both strategic planning for international transactions and global trade compliance. He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Texas and earned his Juris Doctor, Cum Laude, from the Southern Methodist University School of Law.
Mr. Methenitis has substantial experience with customs duty savings regimes, including drawback, free-trade agreements, foreign-trade zones, and valuation methodologies. At Charter, he is focused on the expanded opportunities for duty drawback under the new Trade Facilitation and Trade Enforcement Act.
Mr. Methenitis has held several significant trade and tax positions in the U.S. and abroad. He has been appointed by the International Chamber of Commerce as an observer to the WTO Technical Committee on Customs Valuation and serves on the Focus Group on Convergence of Transfer Pricing and Customs Valuation, established by the World Customs Organization and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development. Further, he has served as a member and committee chair of the Council of the State Bar of Texas Tax section and has chaired working groups for the ABA Customs Law Committee.
